I hope everyone is doin' well. Things are quite all right here. Just started my gym routine. I have to stick to it - I have money invested in my physical well-being now, so I can't just squander this opportunity like with every other work-out routine I've attempted. Today was nice. I have an off-peak membership (meaning I can't go to the gym at night like everyone else). That means it's quiet whenever I go! I'm hoping to get there earlier tomorrow. I woke up at 9am, but I'm aiming for 8am. I'm sick of sleeping in so much! I'm getting too much sleep. It just makes me lazy. That's no good for wanting to get in shape, huh?
Fun story: I was on a cross-trainer (elliptical for Americans) and doing some people watching as you do in the gym. I noticed that men treat treadmills with the same rules of engagement for the toilet. Always leave an extra treadmill between each person. It made me chortle.
But other than the gym, I haven't been up to much in the past two weeks since my last entry. My tutorial group (which is basically a smaller group within class) had to make a presentation on Marxism historiography - and we always manage to get the hardest question. Even the professors tell us we have the hardest questions. "Does Marxist history have a future?" Uh... And last week, we had to discuss the difference between banal nationalism and other "hot" forms of national pride. Banal nationalism wasn't even mentioned in our reading. Extra research time! I've really enjoyed the discussions in class, but sometimes the readings can be a bit hard to get through - i.e. really boring/dense. I suppose that's the nature of historiography. Doesn't mean I have to like it.
A couple of my neighbors and I started watching The Walking Dead, season 2. We're only episode two, but I'm pretty sure we're more emotionally invested than we thought we would be. While laughing our way through episode one (at the improper zombie apocalypse behavior), the ending completely went against what we predicted. All three of us yelled "WHAT THE EFF?" at the laptop with shock all over our faces. Talk about a great cliffhanger. <3 I can't even. But we keep missing each other this week. I'm resisting the urge to watch episode two by myself, being the nice and wonderful person I am. I am distracting myself with the BBC Three show, The Fades. I randomly came across the title on tumblr a few weeks ago and decided to give it a go. omgit'ssogood. I watched four episodes in one setting. There's only six being produced. Apparently shit hits the fan in episode five. I'm rather excited to see what happens. I can't even tell you what it's about because I'm not even sure what I'm watching. Me gusta.
The 21st was my dad's birthday and Rapture Day (take two)! Some friends and I tried having a Rapture party, akin to the exciting cook-out I had back in May, but that fell apart quick. The common room was filled with people watching X Factor America and I could tell they were getting annoyed with my commentary on how dramatic every person was being. And then there was the British version of The Hills after that - some girl wanted to get cosmetic surgery done on her ass. Uhwut? Worst Rapture ever. We partied the next day though - Hannah, Kristy, and I went out dancing, only to go bowling. I guess the line was deemed "too long" for us to wait in? The bowling alley was right next to the club, so we were able to play one game before they closed shop. It was a laugh - all dressed up in our clubware with bowling shoes. We rocked it. Naturally.

This past Tuesday, Eileen and I bought some pumpkins and carved them. They were eewy-gooey inside. I haven't carved pumpkins since I was a kid - we were feeling rather nostalgic. I made a Space Invader and Eileen had pretty flower decor. <3 One of the pumpkins was soooo thick! It didn't even have guts to remove, it was all squash. We're gonna make some pumpkin pie from it. At least, we're gonna try to. I'm rather excited~ Super fresh pumpkin pie. Yum.

That brings us up to date. I've been pretty boring lately. Just doing readings and working on assignments for class. Ya know, the things I'm supposed to be doing whilst I'm here. I've attended a couple lectures outside of class; one was about dream interpretation during the 9th-16th Centuries. That was cool; the lecturer was engaging as well. I think his passion helped to deliver a fantastic presentation. I'm going to another one next week; it's on local/retail trade in the Medieval world. Should be awesome!
Until the next time! Happy adventure times!
